Blogger Shu Flies is a Mandarin Scholarship student at the National Taiwan Normal University’s (Shida) Mandarin Training Center. Located in Taipei, Shida is the place were most foreigners end up learning Mandarin.

For newly arrived Mandarin scholarship students getting a sim card can be a hassle. Opening a bank account can also be difficult. Why? Because you need a Taiwanese ID number to do these things. Most Mandarin scholarship students have to wait four months before they get one.
