UNDERSTANDING THE LANGUAGE IS THE BASIC TOOL OF KNOWING THE CULTURE, PEOPLE AND THE TOTAL PACKAGE OF A PLACE.
ni hao.
like the case of miss apple, im also teaching mandarin in one of the state universities here in the philippines. i learned the very basics of mandarin at the ateneo de manila university which they offer every summer. but i must admit also that im not proficient in the language. i find it hard to understand when someone talks to me straight in mandarin. i know i lack vocabs and mostly practice of the language. and i also believe that the best way to learn the language is to emmerge myself to the actual place of chinese speaking people. coz here in my case, im the only one who teaches it but not too confident (fortunately they dont know). but i make sure that my class will not ruin the language.
anyway, i hope you can help me avail the scholarship for i really take mandarin language by heart. its not only that i have to learn it, but i come to love not only the language but the culture of China, the people and more.
in this case i could share my knowledge about china better to my students.
thanks and best wishes to the program.
